Next Week's States Meeting

States Assembly

On Tuesday 29 September, the States Assembly will convene at 9.30am for Ministerial question time, before moving on to debate matters of public business.

The meeting takes place in the States Chamber and is open for the public to attend, as well as being broadcast live on our website and on the States Assembly YouTube channel.

Appointments
The Assembly will appoint up to two Members to the Jersey Police Authority. The Minister for Justice and Home Affairs will make the nominations, which will be voted on by the Assembly in a secret ballot, in accordance with the States of Jersey Police Force Law 2012.

Oral Questions
States Members will question Ministers for up to 2 hours and 20 minutes. These oral questions are issued to them in advance (i.e. ‘with notice’). Details of next week’s oral questions with notice can be found on page 3 of the Order Paper.

The following Ministers will then answer oral questions which they have not been given in advance of the meeting (i.e. ‘without notice’) for up to 15 minutes each:

Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Jonathan Renouf
Minister for International Development, Deputy Carolyn Labey
Chief Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham

Public Business
The States Assembly will then begin debating the following:

P.65 - Amendment to Standing Orders – change from Government Plan to Budget
The Privileges and Procedures Committee (PPC) is proposing updates to the States Assembly rules to replace the term "Government Plan" with "Budget" and to reflect new public finance fund names, ensuring the Standing Orders stay consistent with recent finance law changes.
