Visit the States Chamber

There are a number of opportunities to visit the States Chamber.

1. Watch States Assembly meetings from the Public Gallery - Members of the public are welcome to watch States Assembly meetings from the public gallery of the Chamber. The entrance can be found at the top of Halkett Place in St. Helier next to the traffic lights. Please note that there are three external steps up to the entrance of the Public Gallery, then a further 40 internal steps that lead up to the Public Gallery, via a steep, winding staircase. Unfortunately, there is no lift access to the Public Gallery, as the States Chamber is situated within an historic building. The gates will open approximately 30 minutes before the meeting begins.
   There is an assistive audio system installed in the States Assembly building to aid people with a hearing impairment to listent to States Assembly or Scrutiny meetings taking place in the States Chamer and Scrutiny Meetin Rooms. The system is an infrared hearing system. Any person with a hearing impairment can use one of the supplies headsets or request a receiver device to use with their own compatible hearing aid. THe headsets and receiver devices are available from the States Assembly building reception desk (Royal Court entrance) and are supplied free of charge.

2. Watch States Assembly meetings online - If you are unable to watch in-person from the Public Gallery, you can watch States Meetings online via the States Assembly website, on social media via X or YouTube. 3. Royal Court and States Chamber Tours - Join a public tour of the Royal Court and States Chamber with an accredited Blue Badge Guide. Tours take place on a Saturday morning, once per month between March and October. Tickets are available to book at the bottom of this page. Everybody is welcome on the public tours; however, they are not suitable for those in larger wheelchairs due to the Royal Court and States Chamber being situated within an historic building with limited doorway size and some restricted openings. The tour involves walking 42 steps up and 38 steps down. There is a lift available for your comfort to access all main areas. However, in the event of a fire, the lift would be unavailable, therefore visitors need to be able to use the stairs to exit the building.
4. Corporate and Community Tours - Organise a corporate and community tour for a group of people. We request a minimum of 10 people (maximum of 25 people) per tour. This can be arranged by emailing [email protected].
