One States Member to stand for Chief Minister

One re-elected States Member has put their name forward for the position of Chief Minister.The candidate listed below secured the support of the required number of elected States Members (minimum six) before today's 5pm application deadline.

As only one States Member has put their name forward for Chief Minister, there will not be a vote at the next States Meeting on Friday 19 June, as per the Standing Orders of the States Assembly (see Standing Order 116). The candidate will make a statement of up to 10 minutes and then face up to one hour of questions from States Members, after which the candidate is taken to have been selected as Chief Minister designate.
At the States Meeting on Monday 29 June all Ministers (including the Chief Minister) will formally take up their positions.
