Public Accounts Committee launch COVID-19 Follow Up Review

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has launched a review to assess whether the recommendations that were given to the government following the COVID-19 pandemic have been implemented.The review’s aims are:
- To establish if any COVID-19 Actions are outstanding.
- To highlight any areas of potential future scrutiny for the Committee of the next political term to consider undertaking.
As part of its evidence gathering process, the PAC will write to the Chief Executive of the Government of Jersey, as well as the Chief Officers of relevant departments if required. The Panel will also be utilising a pre-existing Quarterly Hearing with the Chief Executive, scheduled to take place on 4 March 2026, to pose any questions relevant to the review if required.
Vice Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Deputy Karen Wilson, said:
“Following the COVID-19 pandemic a significant number of recommendations were made to the Government of Jersey. These recommendations came from a range of bodies, including: the Comptroller and Auditor General; the Jersey Independent Covid-19 Review; the Public Accounts Committee; and other Scrutiny Panels. The PAC has therefore agreed that it would be useful to identify if there are any significant actions that have not yet been fully implemented.
“A review of this matter is considered to be a key issue for the public, to ensure that the government is learning from its experience and implementing the necessary improvements to public policy making.
“It is anticipated that any relevant any areas for further scrutiny will be highlighted in the Committee’s Legacy report to aid in the future iteration of the Public Accounts Committee to consider within its work programme.
