Tribute
The Bailiff started the meeting by paying tribute to former States Member, Cynthia Rumboll, née Cynthia Horne, who has passed away. Cynthia was a Deputy in St. Helier No. 3 District 1987-1990. Members held a minute’s silence.

Appointment
The Bailiff then announced that Advocate Victoria Catharine Bell has been appointed as the new Solicitor General.

Chief Minister election
The States Assembly were then asked to elect a new Chief Minister.
The only candidate, Senator Lyndon Farnham shared his vision statement for the role, and this was followed by an hour of questions from Members.

Chief Minister elected
Senator Farnham was automatically elected as Chief Minister designate, as there were no other candidates.
The Senator will not officially take up his position until all Ministers have been appointed at the meeting on Monday 29 June.
The Chief Minister designate must provide the States Greffe with a list of his nominations for the Ministerial positions by 9.30am on Friday 26 June (these will be posted on the States Assembly website).
At the meeting on 29 June, other nominations can be made by other Members in the Chamber.
Adjournment
The States Meeting has adjourned and will reconvene on Monday 29 June for the appointment of the Council of Ministers and Chairs of PPC and Scrutiny.
