REPORT
At the first meeting of the newly constituted Privileges and Procedures Committee (PPC) on 16th July 2026, the Committee reviewed the dates which had been set and published for next year's States meetings. The 3-weekly cycle of States sittings has been adhered to in the majority, where the timetable does not overlap with school holidays.
Under Standing Order 3, the first meeting of the year must take place on the third Tuesday in January. The second session of the year must start on the second Tuesday in September.
Under the same Standing Order, the 2 sessions in the year must end no later than the last Tuesday in July and the third Tuesday in December respectively; although the first of these may be altered by the Bailiff in an election year.
Under Standing Order 4, PPC is obliged to present a list of meeting days for the following year by the end of September.
PPC has also included dates for the first half of 2028, where school holiday dates are known, in order to assist Members as much as possible with forward planning.
