COMMENTS

The Committee decided to express its support for the Strategy for Building a Safer Society', which was in accordance with the Committee's own aims set out in its Strategic Plan Report and Discussion Paper (R.C. 55/2003). The Committee reiterated the comments made by the Finance and Economics Committee that the proposition should follow the normal channels for funding and would need to be considered alongside other growth items in the Fundamental Spending Review (FSR) 2005. It was recognised that, should funding not be secured through the FSR Process, then it would have to be found from existing cash limits.
