STATES OF JERSEY

STANDING ORDERS: SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT PROCEDURES (P.61/2011) – COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 16th May 2011 by the Council of Ministers

STATES GREFFE

2011   Price code: A  P.61 Com.(2)

COMMENTS

The Council has considered the proposition and is of the opinion that the proposals would have implications for both the proposed Electoral Commission agreed by the States and currently being considered by the Privileges and Procedures Committee and for the proposed review of Ministerial government favoured by the Council.

In light of the fact that the Chief Minister will shortly lodge au Greffe a Report and Proposition which proposes that a major review of the Machinery of Government is undertaken, parts (a), (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) of this proposition would be subsumed into the proposed Machinery of Government review.

As such the Council of Ministers is of the view that this proposition is therefore unnecessary and should be rejected by Members.
