Draft Elections (Electoral Registers) Amendment (Jersey) Commence-ment Act 202- (P.39/2026): Amendment.

A1. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. A11 of 9th February 2026, considered the Draft Elections (Electoral Registers) Amendment (Jersey) Commencement Act 202- (P.39/2026) which sought to substitute the commencement date in Article 1(2) from 17th to 24th March 2026.

The Committee recalled that it had previously approved the Act which brought Article 23 of the Elections (Electoral Registers (Jersey) Amendment Law 2025 Electoral Registers) (Jersey) into force.

It was noted that the parish authorities had requested additional time for validation checks. Whilst the new Automatic Voter Registration system was considered to be robust, it was acknowledged that it was vital that the parishes shared the Project Board's confidence in the system.

The Committee approved the amendment and requested that it be lodged au Greffe'.
