ADDENDUM TO COMMENTS

The Committee would like to add to the comments that were issued on 6th July 2004 when it stated that "The Policy and Resources Committee supports this proposition.".

The Committee's support for this proposition is being given on a one-off basis on the clear understanding that the proceeds from the sales of the 7 properties will be used to fund the much-needed refurbishment of Le Clos du Roncier, Grouville .

The Committee notes that the review of the States' property function is now under way and will take several months. It does not consider it to be realistic to wait for that review to be completed before dealing with this issue.

One of the subjects to be examined during the review will be the funding mechanisms for the maintenance and refurbishment of all States properties, and the Committee has suggested that consideration should be given to the establishment of a sinking fund for States social housing. This suggestion will be examined as part of the property review.
