Health and Social Security Scrutiny Panel Proposed Budget 2026-2029 Review: Funding
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and informed planning in the allocation of public resources, we are writing to request a detailed breakdown of the budget allocated to health services under your remit.
Specifically, we would appreciate the following information:
- Allocation by Service Area:
A breakdown of how much funding is being allocated to each major service within the health sector.
- Changes to Heads of Expenditure:
An overview of any changes to the heads of expenditure compared to the previous budget cycle.
- Mini Breakdown of Main Health Spending:
A summary of the main categories of health spending, including key operational areas.
- Five Services with the Highest Associated Costs:
Identification of the five most resource-intensive services in terms of budget allocation.
- Operational Department Breakdown:
For each heading under the health budget, we kindly request a further breakdown into relevant operational departments, along with the corresponding financial allocations.
This information will be instrumental in supporting our analysis and recommendations for the upcoming debate on the Proposed Budget. We would be grateful if the data could be provided in a format that allows for comparison across years where possible.
We would be grateful to receive this information by a formal response no later than 23rd October 2024, the Panel is aware however, that collating this data may take more therefore, if an extension is required, please do contact the Panel Officer with a realistic response date. Please be advised that it is the Panel's intention to publish the response it receives on the States Assembly website.
