Review Report: Draft Food (Jersey) Regulations 202- (P.113/2026): comments

About

On 10th December 2025, the Minister for the Environment lodged the Draft Food (Jersey) Regulations 202- (P.113/2025), which cover the proposed regulatory framework around food standards (including labelling and food allergens information), food hygiene and safety, and licensing of food businesses. These Regulations will bring the Food (Jersey) Law 2023 (P.105.2022) into effect, which was adopted by the States Assembly in December 2022.

The primary aim of the draft Regulations is to protect human health and consumer interests by ensuring that food placed on the market is safe, accurately described and handled hygienically throughout the supply chain.

The Panel presented its comments to the States Assembly on 24th February 2026, ahead of the debate.
