What is the problem or issue the decision is trying to address?

Do children experience this problem differently from adults?

This amendment to the Draft Residential Tenancy (Jersey) Amendment Law 202-: seeks to introduce minor changes to align it more closely with the Common Strategic Policy, these changes include –

providing for the conversion of fixed term leases into periodic tenancies in circumstances where they are of a term of less than 6 months but have been successively granted over a period of 3 years;

creating a requirement that leases inform tenants of their rights regarding the occupation of property at the time a lease is made, varied or renewed, including court's power to stay eviction orders and to vary the rights of tenants or landlords under any lease; and

requiring the court to take into account any decision regarding rent by a Rent Tribunal (if created in accordance with this Amendment) in proceedings where payment (or non-payment) of rent is relevant (including stays of eviction).
