WQ.140/2022

WRITTEN QUESTION TO THE MINISTER FOR SOCIAL SECURITY BY DEPUTY M. TADIER OF ST. BRELADE

QUESTION SUBMITTED ON TUESDAY 19th APRIL 2022 ANSWER TO BE TABLED ON TUESDAY 26th APRIL 2022

Question

"Given that, in many cases, the Income Support housing component for those in private rental accommodation is increasingly not in line with rent charged in the private sector, will the Minister advise what plans, if any, she has to resolve this problem?"

Answer

Private sector rentals components have been regularly increased as part of the annual uprating process. Component levels will rise again in October in line with the uprate agreed by the States Assembly last year.

This is an issue to be considered by the next Council of Ministers.
