Deputy John Young Minister for the Environment BY EMAIL

24th July 2020 Dear Minister

Investigation into the establishment of a digital register of landlords and tenants [P.82/2020]

I am writing further to the adoption of the above proposition on 16th July 2020.

As you are aware P.82/2020 was lodged by the Deputy of St. Peter in response to your previously lodged proposition – Draft Public Health and Safety (Rented Dwellings) (Licensing) (Jersey)  Regulations  201-.  [P.106/2019].  Its  adoption  charges  the  Council  of  Ministers  to investigate the possibility of a digital register for landlords and tenants by 1st September 2020.

The Panel is therefore interested to learn what your next steps will be, working with the Minister for Children and Housing and the Council of Ministers between now and 1st September 2020.

I would be grateful if you could forward a response, in writing, by Monday 3rd August 2020. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Connétable M. K. Jackson

Chairman

Environment, Housing and Infrastructure Scrutiny Panel

cc – Senator Sam Mézec , Minister for Children and Housing
