States Greffe: Scrutiny

Deputy John Young, Minister for the Environment Cc Senator Lyndon Farnham , Deputy Chief Minister By Email

13th April 2022

Dear Deputy Young,

Our Hospital 2022 – planning application decision

The Future Hospital Review Panel has noted, following the conclusion of the Public Inquiry into the planning application for Our Hospital, that the Independent Planning Inspector's report on the application will due to be delivered to you by 13th May 2022.

It is the Panel's understanding that your receipt of the report would take place during the election period. This period was outlined in the Chief Minister's report R.37/2022 – Guidance on Government Activity during the Election Period. The election period is defined in the second paragraph as 11th May 2022 to 12th July 2022 – the time between the nominations and the election of the last Minister into office.

For the sake of public clarity, the Panel would ask that you set out in a reply to this letter whether or not it is your intention to make a decision on the Planning Application for the Our Hospital Project following the delivery of the inspector's report and, therefore, within the election period stated above. We would also ask that you provide the rationale and principles which have guided your response.

The Panel would be grateful for a response to be provided as soon as possible and within five working days of receipt of this letter.

Yours sincerely

Senator Kristina Moore

Chair

Future Hospital Review Panel
