Dear Minister,

Island Public Estate

We recently wrote to the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture to ask how the Sports Policy would inform the Island Public Estate Strategy (and/or vice versa). In his response, the Minister informed us that the Island Public Estate Strategy is informed by the current estate rather than any future requirements and directed the Panel to you for more information on how sport features in planning for maintenance and future facility requirements.

In her report dated 21 June 2018 "Operational Land and Buildings" the Comptroller & Auditor General recommended the prioritisation of a comprehensive property strategy linked to corporate objectives and other strategies and plans. Could you please advise the Panel how the Minister's sports policy informs planning for maintenance and future facility requirements? Also how, Sports Policy and Public Estate Strategy are connected?

We would be grateful if you could provide further details on any alignment together with a timeline for any implementation of projects relating to sports.

We would be grateful if you could respond to this letter no later than midday on Monday 27th March which is in line with the five day response time currently approved between Scrutiny Panels and Ministers.

If you have any questions regarding this or our work in general, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please note that unless otherwise stated, all letters will be uploaded to the Scrutiny website as a matter of course.

Yours sincerely,

Deputy Moz Scott

Chair
