If I want to pay for small items, or tip someone for good service or give something to a busker or charity collector, I want to be able to use cash. However, with a bigger payment, it makes
sense to pay by card instead of carrying large amounts of money (which can be lost or stolen). And when the card system goes down-which it often does-what will happen if we don't have a cash alternative? Will business be left out of pocket or using IOU's?
